I bought a Transit engine from you on 26/01/2009 Reference No. (1st Choice Spares: Part Quote No): 2052791
You may remember, as I spoke to you about the fuel pump lever being bent on arrival.
Having spoken to the garage about the broken lever, we decided to go ahead with the engine change (planning to replace the broken fuel pump with the engine currently on the van). After my mechanic had a closer look at the engine, it was in such a poor state that the mechanic deemed it unusable. I asked him to write a list of the faults with the engine ( a copy of which I have attached to this email). I have also written a summary of the faults below.
1. The engine arived on its side, with all the oil spilled out
2. The Lift pump had broken off of its mountings
3. The inlet manifold and the Injector pipes were missing
4. There was loose polythene stuffed into the inlet ports, which may have lead to foreign bodys in the combustion chamber as well as rust and water inside the inlet.
5. Some bolts were missing from the rocker cover which was also damaged
6. One of the operation levers on the injection pump was also damaged.
My mechanic felt that being as the engine was in such a bad condition visually, and partially dismantled, it was a waste of their and my time and money fitting the engine.
I have also taken some photos of the problem areas.
After deciding that the engine was not adequate, they continued to mend my current engine by replacing the pistons and the timing belt.
I am writing to request a complete refund of £230, as the engine was not as initially stated " in complete working order" or even in fact "complete" (injector pipes and lift pump)
I have added attachments of both the above mentioned letter and photos of the problem areas and if you wish to discuss the engine details further with the mechanics you can either phone the garage or contact Keith (the head Mechanic) (say regarding the "ford transit engine") at:
If you wish to organise the engine to be collected it is currently still at the garage where it was delivered.
I look forward to your swift response to this email
Yours Sincerely,
